Josette Brose-Eichar

SECRETARY

Josette was born on March Air Force Base in Riverside California, where her father was stationed during the Korean War. Her father grew up in the Minnesota State Public School for Dependent and Neglected Children and served as medic in World War II. After the Korean War the family returned to Minnesota where Josette grew up.

Josette was a free spirited, art loving hippie when she graduated from high school in 1969. After a few years working minimum wage jobs and trying to live off the land, she decided to go back to school and pursue her dream of becoming a fashion designer. She graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 1979 and headed to Hollywood to break into the movie business, hoping to become the next Edith Head. Broke and discouraged she became a bank teller. The next ten years in Los Angeles were spent moving up the ladder in the world of electronic banking, working for startups and creating ATM and debit card programs for small banks and credit unions.

In 1989 she moved to San Francisco to work for Visa credit card. While buried in the technical minutia of debit and credit card processing she met the love of her life, David Eichar.

In 1996 she left Visa to start Lavender Floral Design, a little shop by Ghirardelli Square. Working with natural materials was as much fun as fashion design and she loved it. However, running a small retail store front, not so much.

In 2002 David and Josette moved to Sonoma and settled in Boyes Hot Springs. Lavender Floral Design was now a design studio for weddings and events.

With David, she became involved in local issues and ballot measures, concerning growth, the environment, cannabis and law enforcement oversight. The proposed county, private partnership to build a plaza/underground parking garage in the Springs was the catalyst to join Wake up Sonoma. She also writes a column for the Sun, Personal/ Political, to address and discuss local news and issues.
